The article says Welch supported the Vietnam War. That might be up for debate, but she toured with Bob Hope's USO show and those of us who met her knew that she supported Vietnam veterans. Unless you've been 10,000 miles away from home in the military, you can't really appreciate what it means to see that a Hollywood star has given up their life of luxury to take a few weeks to visit soldiers.
